“In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (Jn.16:33)

 Change of Plans

Oh, how I’ve been looking forward to today!  Several weeks ago, I was asked to preach at The Glory Tabernacle in Jasper, Arkansas, as part of the 30-day Convocation with the End-Time Handmaidens and Servants. I’ve been so excited about this opportunity!  How privileged I am to be invited.

However, at 2:00 a.m. this morning, my phone sounded the “you’ve got text” ring, and I received notice that there were already 2-inches of snow on the ground in Jasper, and more to come. So my appointment was cancelled; I’ve been rescheduled; and my whole day is rearranged!

“Well, that’s LIFE!”  There was a song in the 60’s with lyrics that said, “Well, that’s tough! What’s tough? Life! What’s LIFE? It’s a magazine. How much does it cost? It costs 20¢. Well, I only have a nickel. Well, that’s tough! (repeat)”  I often sing that in my head, when there is some malfunction. Yes, this life may seem to be “tough,” full of disappointments and sorrows, but Jesus said, “Be of good cheer, for I have (already) overcome the world!” (Jn.16:33)

Sometimes it’s the “little foxes that spoil the vine,” as King Solomon wrote in his Songs of Solomon 2:15. We can face the big stuff, because we know without Holy Spirit comfort and peace, we can’t get through the day when those things strike us. But, when the “little things” come, they often will disrupt our lives and discourage us to the point of despair.

Am I disappointed? Is my day ruined? Should I “pout” because plans have changed, and “I didn’t get my way?” The answer is, of course, a resounding, “NO!”  I believe that God directs my “steps” and my “stops.” So, I trust Him again today that He has redirected my steps for a divine appointment He has set in motion, and I will be just where I need to be when He needs me to “be there!”

To quote my earlier statement, “I’m so excited about this opportunity!”

Remember the beatitude that helps adjust your attitude, “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not get bent-out-of-shape.” Jesus said it, You will have tribulation (trials),” but you can BE HAPPY – for He has already “conquered the world!” (Jn.16:33 MSG)

This is going to be an “Outrageous Day” – full of God’s surprises and supernatural plans for my life! How privileged I am to be invited to join Him in whatever He has planned for today! Selah!  ~  Shelia Hart Artt

– The Picture is simply a depiction of the Magazine “LIFE” – and in no way endorses cigarettes. (Ha!)
