Supernatural Authority

Are you “Living In The Supernatural Power of His Divine Authority”?

Recently I was asked, “What is the power that you keep saying we have?” Several who were in that meeting jumped in and said (in unison),

“The same power that raised Jesus from the dead, is given to us by the infilling of the Holy Spirit!”

Yes! Paul wrote, “The Spirit of God, Who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He therefore gives life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you” (Romans.8:11).  “Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do” (Romans.8:12).

Authority – Defined: (1) The power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior; (2) Freedom granted by one in authority

What authority and power we have been given in this life! He has endued us with His power that we might walk as Christ in this earth.  We read in 1 John.4:17 – “As He is, so are we in this world” (1John.4:17).

We have His Divine Nature Authority! That’s not “natural authority”, but a “supernatural authority!”  “In Christ we have received everything that we need!  His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness … by which has been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His Divine Nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires” (2Peter.1:3-4).

He who has all AUTHORITY has given us His Authority to rule and reign in this earth! After His Resurrection, as He prepared to go back to the Father, Jesus told His followers, “I have been given all Authority in Heaven & Earth!” And then He assured us that He was sending His Spirit so that we might go and do likewise!” (Matthew.28:19-20).

Why is it that we are ashamed to say that we have been given that kind of authority?  Or perhaps a better question is this – “Do you realize the Authority and Power that you have been given?”  Too many are operating as if they are powerless – when Jesus has said that not only will we do what He did, but “even greater things!”

We are warned that in the “last days … you should know this: People will act religious, but they will reject the Power that makes them godly” (2Timothy.3:1,5). In other words, if we think we can “do it in our strength” – according to Paul, we are being “religious” and rejecting the true Authority and Power that is ours in Christ!

Am I overstating the Authority that God has given to us? No! Listen to what the Apostle Paul says about this God-given Authority to operate in the Body of Christ. He says, “I may seem to be boasting too much about the authority given to us by the Lord. But our authority builds you up; it doesn’t tear you down. So I will not be ashamed of using my authority (2Corinthians.10:8).

Godly Authority – His Divine Nature Authority – is for “building others up”not tearing them down! That is the indication of a true “leader.” Not to establish our “kingdom”but His!

Say it with me –

“My authority is given by the Lord. His authority BUILDS YOU UP! It doesn’t tear you down!

So I am NOT ASHAMED of using my authority!”
